Tokay Gecko

Family:  Gekkonidae

Species: Gekko gecko

Natural Distribution: Southeast Asia and New Guinea

Length:   14in (35cm)

Description

Their name comes from the sound of the call which males make frequently.  These Geckos are easy to keep but are less than friendly; gloves are recommended if handling necessary as they may try to bit.  They should be kept in true pairs, and retreats in their enclosure are essential.  Keep geckos of the same size together smaller individuals may be attacked or even eaten by larger companions.  Suspended heat sources should be shielded to prevent the geckos from getting burnt.

Males have large femoral pores.
